Outstanding Cal Poly community members highlighted for International Women’s Day
March 8 marks International Women's Day, a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. First celebrated in 1911, International Women’s Day has since been recognized annually by people across the globe to honor women’s achievements and to create a more gender equal society.
To celebrate this year, Administration and Finance is highlighting some of the outstanding women who bring positive change to the Cal Poly community.
New Food Truck Villages
Campus Dining always sees change as an opportunity to try something new. While renovations to Building 19, the former home of The Avenue, 805 Kitchen and Poly Deli are underway to create another state-of-the-art dining facility, two new Food Truck Villages have been opened to provide the campus with some fresh gastronomic experiences, alongside tried and true favorites.

Campus Safety Made Easy: Cal Poly provides the Rave Guardian App for All
At Cal Poly, the safety and wellbeing of students, faculty and staff is at the center of everything the university strives for. This week Cal Poly Public Safety took another step forward by introducing the free Rave Guardian app to the campus community.
With just the tap of a few buttons, Rave Guardian will turn your smart phone into a personal safety device. This new tool will allow users to easily send anonymous tips to the Cal Poly Police Department (CPPD), set a safety timer when walking from place to place on campus, text Mustang Patrol, connect to 24-hour police or support services, and offers easy communication with CPPD.

As students come back to campus, the university is especially excited to share everything that Campus Dining has been working on over the past year and a half. The Collaboration Behind the New Building 19
The project to renovate Building 19 began in the summer of 2019 when ASI and the Cal Poly Corporation started meeting to discuss the important role that dining plays in campus life and how a major update to Building 19 could positively impact the overall student experience.
Corporation and ASI then teamed up with Facilities Management and Development (FMD) Project Planner/Architect Anthony Palazzo and Project Manager Penny Sandman, Project Manager Gil Bastidas, Associate Director of Capital Projects Michelle Chariton, and the contractor to keep the project on track.
Finalization of the Frost Center on the Horizon
In May of 2019 Cal Poly broke ground on what was soon to be the William and Linda Frost Center for Research and Innovation. Today A&F’s Facilities Management and Development is proud to announce that the doors of this state-of-the-art facility will open soon.
